Peer Counselor – Part-Time

TSINY is looking for Peer Counselor for The Supported Housing/ Residential Location (s), one of our mental health residential programs located in Queens, NY.

Part-Time Peer Counselor: $26 Per Hour

Position Summary

Assist individuals in the program to develop personalized plans for recovery. Work as part of the team to ensure that program goals are met, that the environment remains safe and supportive, and provide input into the development of program policy and procedures.

Essential Functions

  • Peer counseling.
  • Identify supportive community resources to assist the individuals in the program.
  • Provide recovery readiness services in groups and individual counseling.
  • Assist individuals in the program to develop service/housing plan goals that are consistent with their life goals.
  • Provide referrals to community-based services as needed.
  • Provide mentorship support to individuals living in the program.
  • Outreach and engage individuals in program services.
  • Be able to sit or stand as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • May require walking, primarily on a level surface, for short periods throughout the day, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Be able to reach above shoulder heights, below the waist or lift as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • During a declared disaster, assume and adhere to assigned Job Action role(s) consistent with Disaster Preparedness Plan.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • A graduate of a Peer Advocacy Training Program required.

Experience/Education/Skills/Abilities

High School diploma or a combination of education and relevant experience to total four years.

TSINY is looking for Case Managers for one of our mental health residential programs located in Queens, NY.

Annual Salary: $26/ Hr., Full-Time

Valid Driver License Required

The Case Manager coordinates and monitors the assessment, treatment planning and care coordination for each resident on their caseload. The Case Manager serves as an advocate and intermediary for and on behalf of residents’ rights. Case Management staff will work in partnership with our residents to establish goals, find appropriate supports and access independent community housing.

Essential Functions

  •      Assist residents in developing the skills, direction and motivation necessary to graduate to more independent housing settings.
  •      Assist residents to develop life skills in the direction of maximum autonomy.
  •      Assist residents to link up with community resources, such as employment, day programs, vocational rehabilitation services and health care services.
  •      Insure that residents receive periodic medical and dental attention.
  •      Maintain contact with: (1) TSINY Financial Specialist and follow up on related benefit matters, (2) all related treatment providers to insure integrated care between the residential program and other services.
  •      Meet on a regular basis with interdisciplinary team for assessment and information on resident.
  •      Facilitate skill development classes.
  •      Develop person-centered Service Plans.
  •      Work with counselors to monitor the implementation of Service Plan goals and evaluate progress.
  •      Visit hospitalized clients.
  •      Monitor medication.
  •      Provide crisis management when required.
  •      Must have a valid NYS DL

Education/Experience/Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree plus one years’ experience or High School diploma plus two years’ experience in mental health setting.

Must have a Valid NYS Drivers License

TSINY is looking for Porter to work at various of our mental health Residential programs located in Queens, NY.

Porter: $20.32 Per Hour, Part-Time

Position Summary

Responsible for performing highly diversified duties to installs, troubleshoot, repair and maintain facilities and equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processer to support the achievement of the sites= goals and objectives.

Essential Functions

  • Meet with supervisor to plan daily schedule.
  • Clean all bathrooms.
  • Put sanitary papers and soaps in all bathrooms.
  • Check all exit doors to make sure they are secure.
  • Sweep/mop building floor.
  • Empty all garbage cans, take garbage out to dumpster.
  • Pick up residence mail at main office.
  • Empty ashtrays.
  • Sign out.
  • Put out extra sanitary papers on Friday in preparation for the weekend.
  • Put out extra cleaning materials on Friday in preparation for the weekend.
  • Pick up staff payroll (bi-weekly).
  • Make appointment with supervisor for employee evaluation.
  • Drive residents and staff to do personal needs shopping.
  • Drive residents and staff to appointments.
  • Pick up medication at pharmacy.
  • Order and pick up residence supplies.
  • Drive residents and staff to recreational activities.
  • Check residence boilers, hot water and heating systems.
  • Prepare room for new residents.
  • Change lighting.
  • Minor repairs on sinks, showers, toilets, light fixtures, windows, doors and any aspect of building physical plant not requiring outside contractor
  • Keep up maintenance on residence vehicles.
  • Shovel snow.
  • Minor plastering and painting.
  • Assist, as needed, any other residential component with maintenance and driving needs.
  • Read Personnel Policy.
  • Be able to sit or stand as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • May require walking, primarily on a level surface, for short periods throughout the day, with or without reasonable accommodation.
