TSINY, a non-profit Mental Health Services Agency seeks a Nurse for its Adult Home Court-Ordered Assessment (AdCO) Program, located in Queens, NY.

Nurse (Mental Health)  – Salary Range : $74,620 to $85,000 annually

Position Summary

Work as a member of a team to reduce the number of psychiatric hospitalizations among individuals with a history of severe and persistent mental illness by administering injectable psychotropic medications and conducting medication management groups. In addition, address the high prevalence of medical illness among our clients by providing health monitoring services, nutritional counseling and education, medical education, wellness programming, and following up on outstanding health concerns.

Essential Functions

• Administer injectable psychotropic medications.

• Monitor clients for side effects of psychotropic medications.

• Conduct health assessments for PROS clients

• Conduct Medication Management groups for PROS.

• Conduct Nutrition groups for Clinic patients.

• Provide wellness programming (nutritional counseling, smoking cessation, physical activities planning).

• Perform standard health screenings.

• Provide health and medical information and education to clients.

• Read physicals and follows-up on recommendations.

• Teach blood sugar testing and insulin treatment.

• Receive and review all blood work and toxicology reports and follow-up as indicated.

• Maintain nursing office and supplies in acceptable health and nursing standards.

• Follow-up with primary care physicians.

• Provide health education to other members of staff.

• Assist in the development of policies and forms to improve the delivery of health and psychiatric services.

• Perform phlebotomy skills.

• Provide basic first aid treatment.

• Be able to sit or stand as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• May require walking, primarily on a level surface, for short periods throughout the day, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Be able to reach above shoulder heights, below the waist or lift as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Driver’s license preferred.

• During a declared disaster, assume and adhere to assigned Job Action role(s) consistent with Disaster Preparedness Plan.

• Perform other related duties as required.

Experience/Education/Skills/Abilities

Nurse I: RN (Associate’s degree) with current State license or LPN with experience.

Nurse II: RN (Bachelor’s degree) with current State license.

Nurse III: RN (Master’s degree) with current State license or RN (Bachelor’s degree) with 2 years’ nursing experience.
