Accountant, Real Estate Operations

Transitional Services for New York, Inc., not-for profit, is a comprehensive, community-based mental health organization located in New York City. We are currently looking for an Accountant of Real Estate Operations to join our program located in Whitestone, NY.

Salary: $27.47 Per Hour

Monday – Friday

Non-Exempt / OT Eligible Position

Position Summary

Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of Agency and Agency affiliated real estate activity, including revenue, expenses, cash collection, reserve requirements and financial statement preparation of real estate entities.

Essential Functions

  • Real Estate & Agency Level Transaction Recording, Reporting, Monitoring and Budgeting
  • Monthly recording of journal entries into the general ledger for real estate entity activities (e.g., revenues, expenses, replacement reserve requirements).
  • Monitor cash collection and review reconciliation of real estate entity bank activity to the general ledger.
  • Cost monitoring of real estate entity activities.
  • Specialized HUD (US Department of Housing and Urban Development) reporting, annual financial statements, annual contract renewal and annual budgets, including requests for rent increases and use of/increase to replacement reserves.
  • Specialized asset manager annual and quarterly financial reporting and budgeting for real estate entities.
  • Prepare financial statements, including supporting documentation and schedules for fiscal and calendar year-end audits, construction contracts and cost certifications.
  • Prepare Agency level fiscal year budget information for residential programs, facilities and real estate entities.
  • Perform level of service testing, provide statistical data and supporting schedules as requested for the annual NYS consolidated fiscal report (CFR).

General

  • Assist the Divisional Director, Real Estate Operations as requested.
  • Be able to sit or stand as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation

Experience/Education/Skills/Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field of study and experience in accounting-related function (not-for-profit or real estate preferred).
  • Demonstrated analytical skills utilizing budgetary, operational, financial and related information.
  • High proficiency in Excel, Word and accounting software programs.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with peers and supervisors collaboratively in a collegial work environment.
  • Must be organized and able to multi-task with an attention to detail.

TSINY is seeking a Cash Clerk for Its Fiscal and Accounting Department. This position reports directly to the Director of Cash Management.

Annual Salary $42,500

Position Summary 

 The Cash Clerk provides clerical support for the work of the Director of Cash Management and the Controller.  

 Essential Functions – Assist the Director of Cash Management by performing the following in an accurate and timely fashion: 

 Banding/Cash Receipts 

•    Recording cash receipts from billing and other sources 

•    Recording all cash transfers 

•    Perform basic bank reconciliation tasks 

 Day-to-Day Operations 

•    Reconcile and record all debit and credit card transactions 

•    Reconcile and record all petty cash transactions. 

•    Review and record food card transactions. 

•     Assist the Controller and CFO as needed. 

 General Ledger 

•    Investigate general ledger transaction questions. 

Other requirements  

•    Perform other related duties as required. 

Experience/Education/Skills/Abilities  

Associate’s degree in accounting or business or other related discipline.  Facility with Excel, Word and accounting software, preferably XLedger.  Knowledge of and experience in not-for-profit operations and accounting.  Be meticulous and organized, demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team and be discreet in dealing with financial and payroll matters.

Position Summary

Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of clerical tasks related to the execution and maintenance of City and State contracts, grants, financial reports and budgets.

Essential Functions

  • Data collection and maintenance, sourcing financial and statistical supporting documentation.
  • Provide ongoing support in the preparation of monthly and quarterly invoices for NYC contracts.
  • Secure supporting documentation for internal and external audits. Includes, but not limited to, research/source payroll data, invoices, leases, journal entries, and other financial and statistical data.
  • Management of budget and ancillary supporting documents required for government contracts, grants and applications.
  • Prepare and submit remittance details to finance department.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual Agency budget, processing of monthly rent payments and Consolidated Fiscal Report (CFR).
  • Maintenance and organization of statistical data (e.g., levels of service, personnel action forms).

General
